HOPEWELL VALLEY: Farmers Market opens Saturday

By Ruth Luse, Managing Editor
The Pennington Farmers Market will begin its fourth season on Saturday (June 2) at Rosedale Mills, 101 Route 31 North, Hopewell Township.
The market will be located in an open-air setting. Local vendors will bring fresh produce and farm products directly into the heart of Hopewell Valley on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. until Halloween.
This year’s market includes organic vegetables and wildflowers from Pennington’s Chickadee Creek Farm, sweet corn and honey from Kerr’s Korn and Farm Stand, pasture-fed beef, lamb and free-range chicken from Beechtree Farm, award-winning wine from Hopewell Valley Vineyards, sunflowers from Nine Acres Farm, hand-knit alpaca goods from Woods Edge Farm, artisan breads from Village Bakery and organic meals from Comfort Foods. All items are grown, raised, or made locally.
New this year will be Treelicious Orchards, a low-impact farm run by seventh- generation growers in western New Jersey, and Pennington’s Deli on a Bagel.
Treelicious produces both heritage varieties and new hybrids of apples, peaches, plums, pears, apricots, and cherries, as well as fresh-baked, fruit-filled, baked treats.
Deli on a Bagel will sell hot coffee, fresh sandwiches, and brunch creations.
In addition, pickle, mushroom, and Belgian waffle vendors will participate occasionally.
