On April 28 and 29, alumni from the Hillsborough High School Class of 1976 met for a weekend of events to commemorate its 36-year reunion.
The gathering marked the first reunion since the classmates had passed their 50th birthdays.
On Saturday afternoon, the class toured Hillsborough High School, which included its additions since 1976. Christine Haas, a teacher at Hillsborough High, and students Emilie Bromley and Kinjal Dave conducted the tour for the alumni.
The evening celebration was held at the Three Bridges firehouse and was catered by Maddalena’s Catering.
Sunday morning, the classmates were treated to breakfast at the Hillsborough-Manville Elks.
Various class awards were presented Saturday night. Carol Prymowicz Laine and Jim Laine (a 1975 Hillsborough graduate) were recognized as being the “Longest Married” at almost 32 years.
The winner of the most grandchildren title was Ray Alcaide with four.
Classmates attended from eight different states. Yvonne DeLorenzo Peters “traveled the greatest distance” from Leavenworth, Washington. John Stepien was awarded with the First Ticket Response, and Chris Tornstrom Dzedzy was recognized as holding Ticket No. 36.
Random door prizes were awarded, and a class picture was taken. Personal photos as well as an album with pictures from five previous reunions were displayed.
Alumni Kevin Shields paid a solemn and reverent tribute to the 14 deceased classmates — Mark Dobak, Marianne Galaini, Thomas Hicks, Debbie Kowalski, Anthony Lisa, Cindy Majewski, Timothy Maslyn, Thomas Miller, Scott Muller, Amy Rosenlicht Glass, Robert Sporman, Nancy Tenore Wright, Kenneth Van Nuys and Claudia Zarrillo.
Members of the Class of 1976 Reunion Committee included Nancy Babey Scherer, Karen Cartwright Perhach, Karen Jacus Dorn, Janice McDonough Mathewson, Carol Prymowicz Laine and Mary Lynn Troisi Bezek.
Locating many of the 1976 Hillsborough graduates and maintaining a current address list has been difficult for the Reunion Committee, which asks all classmates to contact any committee member with updated information.
