SHUL SCHOOL OPENS SEPTEMBER 9
New Hope, PA; August 28, 2012: As summer vacation comes to a close, teachers and staff at the Kehilat HaNahar’s Shul School are busy preparing for the first day of classes on Sunday, September 9th.
The school, housed in the historic building on West Mechanic Street, has openings for students for the 2012-2013 school year. Classes are available for children in pre-K through 10th grade, and the 30 week program continues through May 19, 2013.
Rabbi Michelle Greenfield, Shul School Director, and Dr. Jan Kaufman, Ed.D., Education Committee Chair have developed a creative curriculum to foster a love of Judaism and enthusiasm for learning. The program is designed so any student who wishes to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah will be prepared to do so. Special care is provided for a personal Bar or Bat Mitzvah experience. There is an intensified b’nei mitzvah tutoring program during the year leading up to this service.
With attention to the individual needs of each child, teachers provide a caring environment where students will learn about holidays, prayers, Jewish culture, history, Torah study and age-appropriate exposure to the Hebrew language. Classroom learning is reinforced with monthly month family services. The first “Back-to-Shul” service will be held on Friday, September 7th, beginning with a Bring-and-Share Community Dinner at 6:15 p.m. and a Kabbalat Shabbat service from 7:00 n 8:00 p.m. followed by an oneg.
"I am eager to meet and get to know each student personally as they learn and grow. It’s also exciting to challenge students and see how they teach us as a community,” Rabbi Michelle said. Please call Kehilat HaNahar (215-862-1912) or email Rabbi Michelle ([email protected]) for further information about enrollment and to meet for a tour.
