with the problems faced in rural areas such as lack of good education, health care,
and employment opportunities. This concern for the people and the future of the
country inspired him to initiate AIM for Seva.
AIM-S has grown to be a national movement making a significant impact in
providing education and health care to the less privileged sections of the
population. Of the 93 chAtrAlayas eighteen of them are exclusively for girl
students. Over the last 10 years, 11498 rural and tribal
children have had their lives transformed by AIM-S.
Presently, 2828 students live in the AIM-S student homes and attend a
nearby school. Most of them are toppers in their class and blossoming into
confident youth, ready to be the face of change for their community’s
progress. The dropout rate is also considerably less among the students in
the chAtrAlayas. Starting from 2012, AIM-S is committed to providing jobtraining
to students passing the 12th standard. Until they are skilled enough,
they may continue in the free student home. Right now, the future projects
are coming up on a high priority basis in the neediest states n Jharkand,
Chhattisgarh and Bihar.
Besides education, AIM-S has as one of its mission areas providing basic
health care to people living in the remote regions of India. Currently, it
administers 5 hospitals, 6 clinics and 6 mobile medical units in tribal and
rural areas. So far, over 500,000 people have benefited from the health
facilities and program. AIM-S also runs several other projects geared towards
empowering women by providing them opportunities to earn a living.
