HILLSBOROUGH: 15 to 20 stored vehicles burn in salvage lot

   About 15 to 20 cars burned in a fire at an auto salvage company lot on Valley Road early Monday morning, police said.
   At 1:27 a.m., responding police officers found what officials said was an expansive staging area on the Hercules Enterprises industrial property, with hundreds of salvaged cars parked there. The vehicles were on fire in the southeast corner of the property at 321 Valley Road, police said.
   A preliminary investigation showed that a local auto salvage company, CoPart Salvage Auction of Camplain Road, Hillsborough, leases the property to store vehicles, According to Hillsborough fire officials, a non-suspicious fire apparently started in one of the vehicles, then quickly spread.
   The cause of the fire is unknown, police said. No injuries were reported. The only damage as to the vehicles, which were owned by the salvage company., police said.
   Valley Road was closed between Auten Road and Farm Road for several hours.

   Frie departments from Hillsborough, Manville, Finderne, Millstone Valley, Raritan Borough responded, as did the Hillsborough and Somerville rescue squads, Hillsborough Office of Emergency Management, Somerset County Hazmat and the state Department of Environmental Protection.
