HILLSBOROUGH: Kristen Hayden wins state diving title

    Kristen Hayden, a freshman at the Lewis School of Princeton and a resident of Hillsborough, won first place in the NJSIAA Girls’ Diving Championship on Feb. 27.
    On Feb. 3, she took first place in the qualifying meet at Montgomery High School, and set a Montgomery pool diving record with a score of 470.25.
    On Feb. 22, she captured second place in the Eastern National High School Diving Championship, the largest prep school aquatic event in the United States for both men’s and women’s swimming and diving competitions. The competition is held each February at LaSalle University in Philadelphia and conducted by Germantown Prep School.
    On March 10 she finished first in the 3-meter dive and second on the 1-meter board at the Junior Olympic Regional Diving Championship held at the College of New Jersey. This qualified her to advance to the Junior Olympic Eastern Nationals, which will be held at the University of Purdue on April 13 and 14.
