EDISON — The Terra Nova Garden Club received three prestigious awards at the 87th annual meeting of the Garden Club of New Jersey on June 7.
The club was awarded three silver trophies and several certificates of merit for its work in community service and civic beautification.
These included the Hanover Garden Club Trophy, presented to a member club for a successful, innovative project of merit that does not apply for an award under any other category. The Edison club’s project was the “WreathsAcrossAmerica” wreath-laying ceremony at the Piscatawaytown Burial Ground in December 2011. Project co-chairs were Jean Pizutelli and Lorine Fargo.
The club also was awarded the Lillian C. Koelsch Trophy, presented to a member club or individual for developing, maintaining and beautifying a public site, highway, byway, etc. The project was the planting and ongoing maintenance of the North Edison Library Garden. The chairperson is Neela Khanolkhar.
The Edison club also received the Basking Ridge Garden Club Marguerite and Vincent T. Mulligan Garden Therapy Trophy, presented to amember club or individual for continuity of service in one or more sponsored projects. This was for the club’s floral programs at the Lyons campus of the V.A. New Jersey Health Care System and at the JFK Adult Daycare Center. Chairperson for the project was Theresa Ward.
All trophies are on display at the Holly House at Rutgers Gardens, New Brunswick.
