Paul Wilkins, 29, of Ewing Township, has been charged with arson in connection with a small fire that was set in a wooded area near the Lawrenceville Exxon gas station on the corner of Texas Avenue and Brunswick Pike March 25, according to police.
Mr. Wilkins was arrested March 27, after an investigation into the incident, police said. He was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center.
At the time of the incident, a caller reported seeing smoke and flames in the wooded area on the gasoline station property. An employee of the gas station poured water on the fire to extinguish it while waiting for the Lawrence Road Fire Co. to arrive.
An investigation into the incident revealed that two pieces of paper towel had been twirled together and set afire. There was no property damage.
