The Volley For SERV Tennis Tournament committee members are gearing up for the 23rd annual event to raise funds for SERV Behavioral Health System, Inc. Founded in 1974, SERV (Social, Educational, Residential and Vocational) is a nonprofit organization that provides residential and support services for individuals throughout New Jersey with severe and persistent mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.
The daylong event is scheduled for June 17 at Cherry Valley Country Club in Skillman. It will feature a seven-division tennis tournament followed by an evening reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, exquisite dinner, open bar, live entertainment, silent auction, Super Cash Raffle drawing, player awards, and the recognition of two honorees.
Volley For SERV Chairman Ted Golfinopoulos has announced that the two honorees for the evening will be Jack H. Fein and Donald J. Loff.
Fein will receive The SERVice Award, given to a SERV board member in appreciation of demonstrated leadership and commitment to the mission of SERV. Fein, who has been a SERV board member for 14 years, is treasurer of the SERV Behavioral Health System, Inc. Board of Directors.
Fein is a principal with The Mercadien Group, an accounting and management consulting firm in Hamilton, where he works with more than 85 nonprofit organizations.
A resident of Holland, Pa., Fein serves as treasurer of the Committee on Religious Ministries at The University Medical Center at Princeton, is a member of the advisory board of RomAsia Bank, and is assistant treasurer of The Rotary Club of Princeton Foundation. He serves on the advisory board of Rutgers MACCY Program in Governmental Accounting. In addition, Fein is publisher and editor-in-chief of the Nonprofit Examiner, a nationally syndicated publication. He also is a founding member of Shir Ami Bucks County Jewish Congregation.
Loff will be presented with the 3rd annual Lou Natale Jr. Players Award, which acknowledges an individual for continual support of SERV through participation in and sponsorship of Volley For SERV.
Loff, a resident of Raritan Township, has competed in nearly all of the previous 22 VFS tennis tournaments and has been a longtime supporter of SERV in its fundraising efforts. He also served on the VFS Committee in years past.
A Senior Vice President for Investments at Merrill Lynch, Loff works in developing investment strategies, asset allocation, portfolio monitoring and overall wealth management for high net worth clients and institutions.
Both honorees will be feted during the evening reception.
Volley For SERV Committee members include Fein, Loff, Golfinopoulos, Richard Anderson, Beth Bauman, Ward Bauman, Beth Deitchman, Paul Kramer, Ann LoPrinzi, Bill Rue Jr., Pamela Sims Jones, Barry Szaferman and Rick White.
Net profits from Volley For SERV will benefit special programs of the SERV Foundation, including the Scholarship Fund and the annual “Recovery NJ” health-and-wellness event for consumers and their families.
The cost for an individual VFS player is $195, which includes the tournament, a VFS shirt, courtside lunch, a commemorative team photo and the evening dinner reception with open bar. Reception only tickets are $90.
