The deadline to file a petition to be placed on the Nov. 5 annual school election as a candidate for school board is June 4 — less than a month from now.
The petition should be filed with the Hunterdon County Clerk’s office, located in the Hall of Records at 71 Main St., Flemington.
Candidates are required to obtain 10 signatures of qualified registers voters in the district they are seeking to represent.
A School Board Candidate Kit and the list of school board member offices to be filled are available on the web at www.co.hunterdon.nj.us/countyclerk.htm or in person at the Hunterdon County Clerk’s office.
In addition to normal business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., petitions may be filed on May 30 until 7 p.m.; and May 18 and June 1, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Open seats are as follows (according to the county clerk’s office):
— South Hunterdon Regional High School — One seat (three-year term) from Lambertville; one seat (three-year term) from Stockton; one seat (three-year term) from West Amwell Township.
— Lambertville Public School — Three three-year terms.
— Stockton Borough School — two three-year terms.
— West Amwell Elementary School — three three-year terms.
School-board nominating petitions for the November election cannot be returned to the local school district offices.
