Rubber Ducky Race a success!

The SHR PTSO
Executive Board
On behalf of the South Hunterdon Regional High School (SHR) Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) we would like to thank all the community members that participated in the seventh annual Rubber Ducky Race during Shad Fest. This fundraiser is our biggest fundraiser each year and truly a lot of fun. We celebrated SHR with everyone who passed by and stopped to wish us well and to buy a ticket. Many people from near and far were happy to support our fundraiser. Even our recent alums, home from college for the weekend, were proud to support their former high school.
Without the generosity of a whole host of parent and student volunteers, we couldn’t boast this year’s record breaking success. We sold more than 1,700 duck tickets. Every penny earned allows us to continue to support various activities and scholarships for our local middle school and high school students.
Big thanks go out to those people that helped at the duck race course to dump and retrieve ducks — Janine and Steve MacGregor, Tim and Chris Nanneman, Mary Lynn and John DuPuis, Debbie and Ed Closson, Tom Ramsin and Curt Coleman. Thanks also go to Ginny and Ed Evans as well as Sandy Eldridge for keeping the footbridge clear of bystanders during the finish.
A very special thanks goes to Mary Lynn DuPuis for cleaning and storing our 2,000 ducks each year. We would also like to thank our student volunteers including Amy DuPuis, Shelby Bacorn, Katie DeAngelo, Amanda Wengryn, Alex Eldridge and Zach Eldridge.
Also, thank you to Jim and Jes Cally for clearing the race course of debris prior to the race.
We especially would like to thank those parents that helped to sell tickets during Shad Fest including: Heidi Tomenchok, Kathy Ferry, Beth Asaro, Nina Cally, Sue Bacorn and Bridget Coleman. Thanks, too, go to the various groups that sold tickets for several weekends before the race to earn money for their clubs and charities. They include Newtown Athletic Club’s Rock Starz, Mt. Airy Church, SHR Softball, SHR, Soccer, SHR Baseball, SHR Chorus, SHR Robotics Club, SHR Field Hockey, SHR 10th grade class, SHR Costa Rica trip, Lambertville Chamber of Commerce and Students for Students to benefit the Igwamiti Primary School in Kenya.
We are proud of our boosters and club members that took the initiative on some chilly weekends to raise money to keep their own organizations solvent as well as to support the PTSO. Lastly, if we neglected to mention anyone, know we are most thankful for all volunteers.
The first place $1,000 winner was ticket No. 733, Kris Reilly from New Hope. The second place $500 winner was ticket No. 607, Lambertville resident, Lou Toboz. The third place $250 winner was ticket No. 353, SHR Field Hockey. Congratulations to the winners!
Again, thank you to our community and guests who purchased tickets. We look forward to seeing you next year and celebrating another exciting Ducky Race!
