HILLSBOROUGH: Children help bolster Y fund drive

Students enrolled in the Hillsborough Family YMCA’s all-day classes for young people took part in an April 16 and 17 swimathon using the skills they learned in weekly classes to raise funds to benefit the Y’s Strong Kids annual support campaign.
Teachers Lynn Masters and Koryn Palumbo created the swimathon. The children not only had the opportunity to demonstrate the progress they made in their instructional swim classes, they were able to use their skills to help others in their community. The children, who are in the kindergarten, kindergarten enrichment, pre-K plus, and five day Little Sprouts classes, collected pledges for each lap they swam.
The Y’s annual support campaign provides assistance for children and others in the community to use Y programs and services, such as summer camp, water safety lessons, early childhood care and education.
The Hillsborough Family YMCA Child Development Center provides year-round cares for about 90 children ages six weeks through six years. For information, contact Lee Santaromita at 908-369-0480, ext. 718, or [email protected].
