   Strumming, singing boosts Debate Club
   Fri., June 7 — High school acoustic guitarists will play in an “Unplugged” concert at 7 p.m. in auditorium of Hillsborough High School, Raider Boulevard in a benefit for the school Debate Club. Admission: $5.
Symphony band plays pops concert
   Fri., June 7 — The Raritan Valley Symphonic Band presents its annual free pops concert at 7 p.m. at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, 600 Garretson Road. The band will perform “Porgy and Bess” by George Gershwin and “The Sound of Music” by Richard Rogers. The band will also play toe-tapping favorites, including “The Syncopated Clock,” and “Pavanne” from Symphonette No.2 and popular marches. This is RVSB’s 30th anniversary season.
Gallery celebrates student art works
   Fri., June 7 — Gallery highlights works of K-12 students in art, live music, food sciences of Hillsborough students at the municipal building at 379 South Branch Road. Works can be viewed in the Board of Education office, foyer, conference room, and hallway. Open for personal viewing from 8 a.m.–4 p.m., with student docent tours of gallery from 5-7 p.m. Awards ceremony 7-8 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.
Choral Society sings in Millstone concert
   Sat., June 8 — Raritan Valley Choral Society presents a “Long Live the King” concert at 7:30 p.m. at Hillsborough Reformed Church, Millstone. Handel’s The singing of Handel’s “Coronation Anthem,” will be offset historically by Randall Thompson’s “The Testament of Freedom,” based on writings of Thomas Jefferson. Other songs in a Loyalist-versus-Patriot theme will be offered. Freewill donations will be accepted.
Auxiliary sponsors outside flea markets
   Sat., June 8 — Flea markets behind the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 at 375 Route 206 and Hamilton Road starts at 9 a.m. Market outside spaces are $15 each. Garden club to meet, eat at Duke Farms
   Thurs., June 13 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hold its annual meeting at Duke Farms Orientation Center at 10 a.m. Lunch will be available at the Duke Cafe for $15. Elks invite veterans to monthly lunch
   Thurs., June 13 — The Princeton Elks Lodge monthly veterans meeting and free lunch will be held at noon at the Princeton Elk Lodge at 345 Route 518, Skillman. All veterans are invited to attend, especially Elks who are veterans. The lodge has a Veterans Day once a month during most months. For info, contact Hugh Dyer at 908-359-7122.
Eat dinner, boost scholarship fund
   Thurs., June 20 — Stanley L. Lapidow Scholarship Fund will raise funds at Star Diner, 842 Route 206, from 5-8 p.m. Mention fundraiser to hostess and the diner will donate 15 percent of the check’s total to a memorial fund for college students.
One last graduation to be held at school
   Thurs., June 20 — High school graduation will be held at 6 p.m. in the school football stadium (weather permitting) off Raider Boulevard or in the gym with limited overflow seating in the Commons (in inclement weather). If there is a question about the location, information will be provided on the school website as soon as the decision can be made.
Suicide prevention is subject of forum
   Tues., June 25 — BoroSAFE presents a suicide prevention forum featuring motivational speaker Mark Farrell, a panel discussion by Hillsborough High School students, and Eric Marcus, author of “Why Suicide? Questions and Answers About Suicide, Suicide Prevention, and Coping with the Suicide of Someone You Know.” 9 a.m.-noon in Hillsborough High School auditorium. Township schedules fireworks night
   Sat., June 29 — Township-sponsored fireworks go off at intermediate school at 281 Auten Road, starting about 9:30 p.m. If it’s bad weather, the show will be the next night, Sunday.
   Parking is limited, and off-site parking locations have been designated at the high school on Raider Boulevard and the middle school on South Triangle Road. Free bus transportation will be provided beginning at 8 p.m., and return after the show.
   Bowling for Billy helps youth’s family
   Sat., July 13 — Carolyn Tighe will host a Bowl for Billy fundraiser at Strike ‘n Spare Lanes in Green Brook, 8-10 p.m. Tickets at $20 each include two hours of bowling, shoes, dessert, coffee and three raffle tickets for gift baskets. Email Carolyn at [email protected].
   Continuing events
   Community theater — “The Fox on the Fairway” comedy plays weekends at the Somerset Valley Players Playhouse, 689 Amwell Road, through June 23.        Farmers’ market — The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey hold weekly market at Duke Farms at 1112 Duke’s Parkway West to sell produce and seedlings from NOFA incubator farms on property. ——The market will be open Friday, 4-7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
   Special Olympics — Swim program at the Hillsborough YMCA. Athletes will be divided into groups by skill. Sundays through June 30, 1-2:30 p.m. Ages 8 and older. Contact Jeannie Ciaccio at [email protected] for signup or information.
   Photo exhibit — Exhibitors in the Hillsborough Digital Photographic Society displays high-quality images illustrating the interests and styles of the club’s members through June 14. Images are available for purchase.
   Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
   Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the sunroom at Emeritus Senior Living, 60 Auten Road. Call 431-1300 if attending.
   Divorce support group — A non-denominational support group to help separated and divorced people to a new beginning. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 7-8:30 p.m., at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, Route 206 at Homestead Road. 908-295-6740.
