HOPEWELL VALLEY: Area residents graduate from colleges, universities

   The following area residents are recent graduates of colleges and universities:
   — Megan Dunne,of Pennington, graduated from Villanova University during a spring commencement ceremony, held May 19, with a bachelor’s degree.
    — James Lyle Felix received his juris doctor degree from Emory University School of Law, Atlanta, Georgia. Christine Lynne Felix graduated magna cum laude from Drew University, Madison. They are the children of Lyle and Judy Felix, of Titusville.
    — Kathryn Anita Cassavell, of Pennington, graduated summa cum laude from Villanova University with majors in economics, finance and international business and a minor in Spanish. She received the Bartley Medallion for economics — the highest distinction the school can bestow upon a graduating student. She also received the Financial Executives International Award, which recognizes one outstanding student from the Villanova Business School. She is employed by Bank of America in New York City.
    — Cody Arias Disch and Sage Cameron Disch, sons of Erica and Ray Disch, of Hopewell Township, are recent graduates. Cody graduated from HVCHS in 2006, from Syracuse University in 2010 with a degree in finance and entrepreneurship and on June 7 from Brooklyn Law School with a jurist doctor in law. Sage graduated from the Lawrenceville School in 2009 and recently graduated from Haverford College with a degree in sociology. Cody is launching a men’s fashion accessory business, called Ace & Everett, in New York City with his cousin. Sage is entering the management training program in Philadelphia with Accenture. Both went to Hopewell Elementary School and Timberlane Middle School.
    Robbie Hoffman — a former Toll Gate Grammar School, Timberlane Middle School, and Lawrenceville School student — graduated from Dartmouth College on June 9, with a bachelor’s degree in government. While at school, he played for the men’s varsity lacrosse team, sang with the Dartmouth Aires men’s a capella group, and was a member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity and the Sphinx Senior Society.
    — Abigail Donovan Nash, of Pennington, received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the College of Arts and Sciences at Drexel University, where she earned Senior Second Honors. A five-year co-op student, her experiences included work in human resources in Crete, Greece, and at Jefferson University Hospital, in Philadelphia. While at Drexel, she served as a peer counselor and was an active member of Gamma Sigma Sigma.
    — Allie Hilderbrandt graduated recently from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, with a bachelor of science degrees in both management and marketing. She attended George Mason on an athletic scholarship to play Division One lacrosse in the Colonial Athletic Association. Recently, she was named as a member of the All-CAA, receiving accolades as a member of the second team for lacrosse. She graduated from Hopewell Valley Central High School in 2009 and was a two-sport star (basketball and lacrosse). She was a first team all-CVC selection in lacrosse and was a three-year starter on the girls varsity basketball team. She plans to work in finance in northern Virginia.
    — Laura M. McGill, of Pennington, graduated from The College of New Jersey summa cum laude on May 16. She received a bachelor of science degree in teaching ( elementary education/art education with a minor in fine arts). She is a TCNJ Merit Scholar and lifetime member of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society. An honors graduate of HVCHS, she volunteers as a docent at the Morven Museum in Princeton. She has been working as a substitute teacher/paraprofessional in the Hopewell Valley school district .
    — Nicholas J. Maida received a bachelor of science degree from Georgetown University on May 18. He graduated cum laude from the McDonough School of Business with a double major in finance and international business, and a double minor in government and economics. He was the recipient of the International Business Faculty Award for Academic Excellence. He will attend Cornell Law School in September. A 2009 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School, he is son of James and Sharon Maida, of Titusville.
    — On May 18, Charles Augustus Huebner, resident of Hopewell Township and son of Charlie and Lucia Stout Huebner, graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a bachelor of science in aerospace engineering.
   el5— Eric Tengi graduated on May 11 from American University with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and minors in marine biology and music performance. He is a member of Mu Beta Psi, the National Honorary Musical Fraternity, and after graduation traveled with the AU Chamber Singers choir on a performance tour of Russia. He was also a member of the Mock Trial Team. As a research assistant during his senior year, he studied the retention of suspended solids by green roofs, and variations in starfish species at the Smithsonian Institution. In spring of 2012, he studied abroad at the University of Otago in New Zealand. He is working for the Mount Laurel office of AKRF, an environmental, planning and engineering consulting firm.
    — Laura Camp has received a master’s degree in library and information science from St. Catherine University, St. Paul, Minnesota. The daughter of Ray and Martha Camp, of Pennington, she is a graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School and St. Olaf College. She lives in Rochester, Minnesota, where she is the community relations coordinator and children’s lead at Barnes & Noble.
    — Katelyn Pagano, of Hopewell Township, graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was accepted into the Occupational Therapy Grad School program at Colorado State University and will be going there this fall.
    — Dr. Chiamaka Ilonzo, of Pennington, was one of 184 public health professionals, pharmacists and physicians to graduate from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) during its commencement ceremony on May 18 at The University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Center. Dr. Ilonzo was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and will pursue a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine in Buffalo. She is a graduate of Linden Hall School for Girls and The University of Akron. She is the daughter of Okey Ilonzo and Rose Ilonzo.
    — Eric Weinand, of Pennington, received a master of science degree from Fairfield University’s Dolan School of Business at the 63rd Commencement ceremonies, held May 19.
    — Some 2,557 students were awarded a variety of bachelor’s degrees during the University of Vermont’s 211th Commencement ceremonies on May 19. Among them were: Erin M. Henry, of Pennington, a bachelor’s degree in dietetics nutrition and food sciences; Brooke E. Shaffer, of Pennington, a bachelor’s degree in early childhood special education; and Martin P. Sherwood, of Pennington, a bachelor’s degree in history.
    — Skidmore College’s Class of 2013, with 605 baccalaureate candidates, participated in the college’s 102nd Commencement May 18 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Chloe Stricklin, of Pennington, received a bachelor’s degree cum laude.
    — Scott M. Weingart, of Pennington, received the juris doctor degree on May 11 from Washington and Lee University School of Law. He was among 141 students who received their degrees. He received the undergraduate degree from Princeton University.
    — Bucknell University has conferred bachelor’s and master’s degrees to students who completed their graduation requirements during this past spring semester. Degrees were awarded May 19. The following are among graduates: Michael K. Christiansen, of Pennington, son of Carl Christiansen and Jane Simpson and a 2009 graduate of Hun School of Princeton, a bachelor’s degree in animal behavior; Jaime C. Kianka, of Pennington, daughter of Philip and Diane Kianka and a 2009 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School, a bachelor’s degree in biology; and Patricia C. Sherrard, of Hopewell, daughter of Alexander and Suzanne Sherrard and a 2009 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central Hugh school, magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English, film/media studies and French. Ms. Sherrard, who served as an executive intern in the Office of Communications, also was a Reunion Student Ambassador, a tour guide and orientation leader and member of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honor society and Delta Gamma sorority.
    — Kevin Kley, of Titusville, graduated magna cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a bachelor’s degree in history (secondary education).
    — Bennett J. Kelley, of Pennington, was among the record number of graduates who earned degrees from The University of Scranton at commencement ceremonies held Memorial Day weekend. He earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing.
    — Kaitlyn M. Stein, of Pennington, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in theatre from DeSales University on May 18.
    — Lauren Poole, of Titusville, graduated with a bachelor of science in health science/occupational therapy from Quinnipiac University during the 82nd Undergraduate Commencement held May 19.
    — Emily Vite, of Titusville, graduated from St. Olaf College. She was a theory/composition major. She is the daughter of Gregory and Janet Vite .
    — A total of 35 men and women in Mercer County Community College’s Nursing program received their nursing pin in a ceremony, held May 21 at Kelsey Theatre on the college’s West Windsor campus. Nursing graduates include Edwin Gomez, of Hopewell.
    — A total of 1,165 degrees were awarded during Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s commencement ceremony on May 11. Colin Ogren, of Pennington, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in computer science with high distinction.
    — Michele Pace, of Pennington, graduated from Clarion University with a lib studies: library science degree during the May 18 commencement.
    — William C. Franz graduated with honors on May 19 from Rutgers University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He is a 2009 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School.
    — Andrew Robert McQueary, of Hopewell, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Villanova University on May 19. While at Villanova, he was a member of the marching, pep and concert bands, participated in the blue key society, took part in numerous service trips and did volunteer work for several charitable organizations. He has accepted an audit position with Deloitte in their Princeton office.
    — Laura Feibush graduated magna cum laude from Bryn Mawr College at the spring Commencement. She received a bachelor’s degree with honors in her major field of comparative literature and she completed a minor in music. A 2009 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School, she will continue her education at the University of Pittsburgh in the Ph.D. program within the English department.
    — Crystal Ann Hixson received a bachelor’s degree from Rider University on May 17. She majored in marketing with a minor in healthcare administration. She is a graduate of HVCHS class of 2009.
   — Ian J. Grimley, of Hopewell Township, graduated cum laude from West Virginia University with a degree in journalism. He is a 2009 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School.
    — Dr. Bashar Hanna, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Delaware Valley College, announced that Kelsey Bruno, of Hopewell Township, is among the college’s list of May 2013 graduates.
    — Stacey Lynn Petty, of Pennington, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from James Madison University on May 4.
    — Katie Kling graduated from Grove City College on May 18. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history with certification in social studies (secondary education). A 2009 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kling (Dianne), Pennington.
    — Drew University awarded bachelor’s degrees to the following students at its 145th commencement on May 18: Nathan Papperman, of Pennington; and Christine Felix, of Titusville.
    — Maryll E. Geherty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Geherty, of Pennington, graduated with a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, in a commencement ceremony held in April. She defended her PhD thesis in chemistry in December and is attending Princeton University’s post-doctoral program working under the guidance of Dr. Eric Sorenson.
    — Danica L. Roskos, a 2009 HVCHS graduate, graduated cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
    — Chelsea San Filippo, of Pennington, graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, with a bachelor of science degree in biology on May 25.
    — David Hill, of Pennington, recently graduated from the College of William & Mary with a bachelor’s degree.
    — Courtney N. DePiano, of Titusville, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology during the 143rd Commencement May 25 at McDaniel College.
    — The following are May graduates of Boston University: Pennington — Emily M. Alexander, master of social work in social work; and Nina D. Szemis, master of education in health education.
