PLAINSBORO — A 55-year-old Princeton woman was listed as being in fair condition at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital after being hit by a car on Centre Drive nearly a week ago, according to hospital officials.
Princetonian Lisa Gao was walking on the sidewalk along Centre Drive on July 3 when she was hit by a 2009 Black Mercedes sedan operated by Rajnikant C. Shah, 70, of Cranbury, early that afternoon. Police said Mr. Shah was driving down Centre Drive with his wife, Aruna, also 70, when he ran off the roadway and hit Ms. Gao between Plainsboro Road and the entrance to the Bank of America at about 12:07 p.m.
Police are still determining what caused Mr. Shah to veer off the roadway and are in the middle of interviewing witnesses.
The elderly couple both suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, while Ms. Gao was taken to the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick for more severe injuries, police said.
Police said they are uncertain of how fast Mr. Shah was driving when he hit Ms. Gao.
The accident is still under investigation.
