HILLSBOROUGH: Break dancer to teach at Dance Connection

Matt Steffanina will visit there Monday, Aug.26

National break-dancing star Matt Steffanina will visit The Dance Connection in Hillsborough on Monday, Aug.26, to teach young students the art of break-dancing.
He will lead the school’s gymnastics, ballet and break-dancing intensive, a period of concentrated study that runs from Aug. 26 to 30 at the school at 1 Jill Court.
Mr. Steffanina has danced for artists such as Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Jermaine Jackson, Snoop Dogg, DJ Tiesto and Busta Rhymes, and appeared on TV shows like “So You Think You Can Dance” and “The Tonight Show.”
”Of all the break-dancers I’ve spoken to, Matt has the best personality for teaching,” said David Kieffer, owner of The Dance Connection and a former professional dancer. “He’s worked with a lot of different groups. He’s a nice guy and the kids are going to love him.”
Mr. Kieffer said Mr. Steffanina has taught children as young as kindergarteners. He’s spent the past eight years teaching all over the world, and currently is on staff teaching hip hop at the Millennium Dance Complex and the International Dance Academy, both in Los Angeles.
”This is a chance to learn a different style of dance,” said Kieffer. “It’s a chance to move in a different, more gymnastic style. It’s a different feeling.”
