The South Brunswick Health Department held a free Blood Pressure Screening at the South Brunswick Senior Center from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday.
Nancy MacKay, the public health nurse administrator for the South Brunswick Health Department and Azra Baig from the town’s Volunteer Nurse Corp., screened 40 senior citizens for hypertension and offered counsel on the results and appropriate follow up and information on other related health concerns.
Senior Center volunteer and participant, Frances Schwartz, age 85 of Dayton, was very appreciative for the blood pressure screening and the advise that was given to her.
Senior Center volunteer, Gloria Hyleman, made sure the participants signed in and registered for the screening while another volunteer, Ila Panchal, made sure all the documents were filled out and then directed the participants to the screening nurse.
Many of the participants that took advantage of this free screening did not have health insurance or even a primary medical physician and were all very thankful to the township and Senior Center for providing this monthly service.
