Contemporary art exhibit at MCC

An exhibit titled “1º” will be held at Middlesex County College from Nov. 18-Dec. 22 at the College’s Studio Theatre Gallery on the Edison campus. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

A reception, open to the public, will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18.

“1º” addresses the relationship between pedagogy, style and interpersonal relationships. It is an instructive experiment that presents the work of 10 artists and educators who are all within 1 degree of separation.

The exhibition will also feature a lecture titled “Social Networks, Art Institutions and the Rise of DIY Art Schools” by Philip Vanderhyden, co-curator and adjunct professor of art. The lecture will be held Nov. 18 at 11:15 a.m. in Edison Hall Room 167.

The exhibit includes painting, sculpture and mixed media, and includes artists Ethan Breckenridge, Zach Buchner, Chris Dorland, Karl Erickson, Andrew Falkowski, Michelle Grabner, Judy Ledgerwood, Jose Lerma, Mark Schubert and Matt Stolle.
