Police are investigating the thefts of appliances from the kitchens of two rental units on Hawk Road in the Yorkshire Village development and the theft of a microwave oven from another unit on Yorkshire Village Road, according to police Lt. Mark Ubry.
Taken from the two vacant apartments on Hawk Road were stainless steel stoves, refrigerators and dishwashers, valued at a combined $4,600. The microwave oven was valued at $300, Lt. Ubry said.
Maintenance employees discovered the thefts when they responded to a carbon monoxide alarm that was going off in one of the vacant apartments around 10 a.m. Nov. 7, Lt. Ubry said. The gas line to the stove had not been turned off.
The thieves kicked in the front doors of the Hawk Road apartments to gain entry, he said. They got inside the Yorkshire Village Road unit through a sliding glass door.
Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call the Lawrence Township Police Department at 609-896-1111.
