BORDENTOWN: Soccer league receives donations

The Bordentown Community Soccer Association has received more than $3,000 in money and equipment from R. W. Tire Corp. and Michelin through the Michelin Soccer Program.

BORDENTOWN — The Bordentown Community Soccer Association has received more than $3,000 in money and equipment from R. W. Tire Corp. and Michelin through the Michelin Soccer Program.
According to a press release, this community program partners Michelin tire dealers with local soccer organizations nationwide. The dealers purchase customized soccer balls, which are redeemed with certificates sent to the soccer organization.
For every Michelin tire sold to the general public at R. W. Tire Corp. during the 30-day soccer ball giveaway, $2 is donated back to the soccer organization.
Donations are used to provide scholarships, uniforms and other equipment for the soccer leagues. Michelin emphasizes safety on the road, and this translates to the soccer field as well. The Michelin Soccer Program promotes activity while facilitating a lifelong partnership between the Michelin tire dealer and the soccer organization.
”Whether you have done this program for one year or more than 13, you’re going to have a blast,” said Ron Walton with R. W. Tire Corp. “Kids love it, parents love it, and all of us at the dealership really enjoy being able to interact with the soccer community. There’s nothing better than seeing the direct positive impact it has on everyone involved.”
Jason Strand, Michelin marketing manager, shared similar sentiments.
”Michelin is always looking for unique ways to give back, and the perfect partnership is between our dealers and community soccer leagues,” Mr. Strand said. “We’ve had great success with this program over the past 13 years and we look forward to many more.”
