Police seek help finding man who walked away from Edison group home

EDISON — Police are asking for help from the public in locating a white male who was recently released from a psychiatric hospital.

Jeffrey Orbach, 43, was released from Trenton Psychiatric Hospital and placed in a group home in Edison. On April 2, his first day there, he received his medication at 8 p.m. and wandered away from the facility, according to police, who said he suffers from psychosis, depression and seizures.

A family member reportedly saw Orbach in Maryland on April 7, and that Orbach indicated he was going back to New Jersey, possibly by train, police said.

Family members said Orbach is “not considered dangerous; however, when he is not taking meds he becomes very confused and loses touch with reality.”

He is described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown eyes, and brown hair. He has a handle-bar mustache. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt, jeans and sneakers.

Anyone who comes in contact with Orbach was asked to contact Edison police at 732-248-7400 or Detective Al Sciarrillo at 732-248-7561.
