FLORENCE — A crash involving a car and a tractor trailer left a West Windsor man dead the evening of Jan. 30.
Hirobumi Okura, 33, who was driving a Toyota Prius, was pronounced dead on scene, police said.
”Mr. Okura was travelling north bound on Route 130 when his vehicle struck the rear of a tractor trailer stopped at a red traffic light,” Capt. Boldizar said.
Sudan Bambaata, 45, of Pine Hill, driver of the Freightliner tractor-trailer, was not injured.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Florence Township Traffic Safety Unit.
According to officials, the accident occurred around 8:53 p.m. at the intersection of Route 130 and Florence-Columbus Road.
The Florence Fire Department along with a Fire Police Strike Team from the county directed traffic and closed down the northbound lanes of Route 130 from Cedar Lane to Delaware Avenue.
The fire department stayed on scene for approximately three and a half hours and Fire Police remained on scene for another hour or so, said Florence Township Fire Department Chief Keith Scully.
”The fire department only provided lighting for the scene for the investigation by Florence Township Police Department,” Chief Scully said.
