In East Brunswick, North Brunswick and South Brunswick we’ve been blessed by two amazing representatives in government – Congressman Rush Holt and Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula.
They’re both smart, well educated and extremely progressive – they’ve been strong advocates for investments in jobs and infrastructure, and protecting programs like Obamacare, Social Security and Medicare.
Like a lot of people, I was sad to learn in February that Rush Holt was retiring from Congress, and nervous that we would be left with a Democratic nominee who wouldn’t be as strong or as progressive as Rush.
As you can imagine, it’s a real relief now that our own Upendra Chivukula has thrown his hat in the ring to take up his legacy.
I hope East Brunswick comes out and vote on June 3 for Chivukula, he has been a strong advocate for us in Trenton and will continue Rush’s legacy in Congress.
He’s running on a platform of protecting Medicare and Social Security from the Tea Party, investing in 21st century jobs and training, and fighting for progressive values.
As Democrats in the Brunswicks, Upendra’s had our backs for 13 years. On June 3 let’s make sure we have his.
