COUNTY: May 17 event hosted by gardeners

The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County will host a program, “Birds, Butterflies, Pollinators and the Plants that Attract them” on May 17 from 11 a.m.-noon at the Mercer Educational Gardens, 431A Federal City Road, Hopewell Township, adjacent to the Mercer County Equestrian Center.
   Tour the demonstration gardens with Master Gardeners to learn which plants are inviting to birds and pollinators and why.
   See examples of plants with characteristics that attract beneficial wildlife. The focus will be on plants for birds returning after migration, such as hummingbirds and many more.
   The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County is a volunteer educational outreach program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. Rutgers Master Gardeners participate in many volunteer programs throughout the County, as well as answer home horticulture questions through their Rutgers Master Gardener Helpline (609-989-6853), Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (March through October) and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (November through February).
