HAMILTON: Township to honor mothers at annual festival

Sayen Botanical Gardens is located at 155 Hughes Dr. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

HAMILTON — This Sunday the community is invited to partake in the Azalea Festival, the township’s first of five annual events in 2014.
   For over 20 years the festival, which is held at Sayen Botanical Gardens, has been a Mother’s Day staple for both Hamilton residents and members of surronding communities.
   In addition to the azaleas, the botanical gardens boast 250,000 flowering bulbs, dogwood trees and rhododendron, according to a township release.
   Situated on 30 acres in Hamilton Square, visitors will also enjoy beautiful ponds, stroll over scenic bridges, or rest under one of the gazebos.
   During the festival, visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the historic Sayen House.
   The home was built in 1912 by Frederick and Anne Mellon Sayen. World-travelers, Mr. & Mrs. Mellon surrounded their residence with plants and flowers they acquired during their trips to China, Japan and England.isitors to the Azalea Festival will be treated to musical entertainment and activities for children. There will be crafters and food vendors to satisfy your appetite. A professional photographer will be at the Festival to take free photos of moms and their families.
