KWG Industries of Hillsborough accepted an award as "Employer of the Year" at the Arc of Somerset County’s 42nd annual meeting June 16 at the Olde Mill Inn, Basking Ridge.
Agency directors who were there to greet guests and present a video presentation covering information and photos of 13 departments that encompass the Arc, its mission and recent successes.
The ARC is based in Manville.
KWG is one of the leading metal machine service centers in the county with a 20,000-square-foot facility.
KWG provides seven individuals with disabilities from The Arc with competitive employment.
L’Oreal USA’s Franklin manufacturing plant was honored as the Distinguished Community Service Award winner. On June 13, L’Oreal initiated a worldwide volunteer initiative and sent more that 250 employees from the Franklin manufacturing plant to help The Arc’s Camp Jotoni prepare for the summer season by performing more than 1,200 volunteer project hours at the camp grounds.
The Provident Bank Foundation is the Arc’s Community Partner of the Year.
In 2014, the Jerry Davis Center for Children and Families received a $2,500 grant from the Provident Foundation for the monthly respite program, "Kids Night Out," a program for Somerset County parents of children who are living with learning and developmental disabilities, as well as their siblings.
The program occurs the third Friday of each month, from 6-9 p.m. The goal of the program is to allow parents some time to themselves to go out, enjoy a movie or dinner while knowing their children (with and without disabilities) are enjoying the evening under the care of professionals.
Marje Graham, a family interventionist for the Parents and Children Together (PACT) program, received the Professional of the Year Award. She has been an Arc employee in Somerset County for more than 27 years.
