To the editor:
On behalf of Special Olympics New Jersey, I would like to thank Rutgers Athletics and Rutgers Football Head Coach Kyle Flood, Team New Jersey Honorary Head Coach during the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games, for their support of Special Olympics New Jersey and its athletes.
I have been associated with Special Olympics for many years, and have never witnessed more sincerity and passion demonstrated by a person of Coach Flood’s stature. He, the entire Rutgers Football coaching staff and his players work just as hard to support Special Olympics as they do on the field. In the last year, this outstanding group, lead by Coach Flood, has not only shown their true colors with their year-round commitment to our athletes, but has truly gone above and beyond in their invaluable support of Team New Jersey and the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games. Each member of Rutgers Football truly shows that they have the highest level of respect for the Special Olympics Movement and the athletes we so proudly serve.
Now, as Rutgers University moves into a position of even greater leadership in collegiate sports, these champions for individuals with intellectual disabilities have the chance to have an even greater impact on the lives of the tens of thousands of athletes and families within our movement.
We could not ask for a greater partnership than the one afforded to us by Rutgers Athletics and Coach Kyle Flood, and for that, we thank you.
