One of Central Jersey’s most popular annual food and wine charity events, the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction, will return for its 13th year on Monday, October 27, 2014, featuring signature chefs from dozens of Central Jersey’s most popular restaurants. The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., is taking place at the Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale and is being chaired by Pauline Poyner, Certified Residential Specialist at Heritage House Sotheby’s International Realty in Rumson. The evening will honor pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Margaret Fisher, MD, Chair and Medical Director at Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center, Professor of Pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine and President, New Jersey Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics.
This year’s extravaganza will showcase some of Central Jersey’s top restaurants, including 709 Point, Antoinette Boulangerie, At The Table, Beach Haus Beer, Chilangos, Chocolate Carousel, Dino’s on Main, Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club, Just Restaurant, Langosta Lounge, Lobster House, McLoone’s, Metropolitan Café, Shorepoint Distributors, Scarborough Fair, Sugar Rush and Hotel Tides.

In addition to a stellar roster of local chefs and amazing food, guests will enjoy wines and champagnes from 90+ Cellars Wine, courtesy of Shore Point Distributing Company and craft beers from Beach Haus Beers. This year’s event will include a performance by Brian Kirk & the Jirks, as well as live and silent auctions items including dining packages, fine wines and champagnes, airline and travel package and other specialty items, with all proceeds benefiting the March of Dimes. Funds raised support lifesaving research and educational programs throughout New Jersey to help all babies, such as CenteringPregnancy® (group model of prenatal care); Healthy Babies Are Worth the Wait® (an education campaign to encourage women, if their pregnancy is healthy, to wait until at least 39 weeks to deliver); and NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) Family Support.
Premature birth is the most serious infant health problem in the United States today. It affects nearly half a million babies nationwide each year, including over 11,600 babies in New Jersey. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have lifelong disabilities. The March of Dimes is committed to reversing this trend by funding research to find the causes of premature birth and developing strategies to prevent it.
