The Princeton High football team improved to 5-0 with a 28-14 win over Steinert on Saturday.
Rory Helstrom returned a punt for a touchdown and Sam Smallzan returned a fumble for a touchdown to get the Little Tigers off and running. Colin Buckley also ran for a score and David Beamer hit Joe Hawes with a touchdown pass to complete the scoring.
We’re just talking about grinding it out this year,” said Princeton coach Charlie Gallagher, whose team will play at Winslow on Saturday. “That’s our theme, that’s the identity of our program right now. When you come from where we came from in 2013, nothing is going to be easy. So now we’re just taking it one rung at a time, just trying to climb the ladder.”
In other Packet-area games, The Hun School opened its Mid-Atlantic Prep League season with a 46-16 win over Blair. Simon Vadas threw five touchdown passes and Chris Sharp ran for a pair of touchdowns in the win. Julian Williams caught three of the TD passes and Justin Morrison caught two TD passes.
West Windsor-Plainsboro North improved to 3-2 with a 46-14 win over Hightstown. Robert Peterson ran for three touchdowns, while C.J. Markisz and John Owens each ran for two touchdowns in the win.
WW-P South slipped to 0-5 with a 35-0 loss to Hamilton.
