Isolina M. Valdes Garcia
Mrs. Garcia, 91, of South River died Nov. 19 at home. Her husband, Sixto, died in 1980, and a son, Julio, died in 1991. Surviving are three sons, Lupe E. of Miami, Enrique of Puerto Rico and Luis T. of South River; a daughter, Ida Garcia of South River; a brother, Raul Valdes of Cuba; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.Robert J. Gibbs
Mr. Gibbs, 73, of West Milford died Nov. 29 at JFK Hospice, Edison. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Hazlet prior to moving to West Milford five years ago. He was a steam fitter at Local No. 638, New York City, for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his wife, Therese D. Lynch Gibbs, in 1993. He is survived by three sons, Robert V. Gibbs of San Diego, Calif., Gregory C. Gibbs of Jackson, and Thomas P. Gibbs of Claysburg, Pa.; a daughter, Therese M. Heger of West Milford; two sisters, Frances Curtin of Parsippany and Carol Oberdeck of Metuchen; a brother, John Briody of Parlin; and seven grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Mr. Peterson, 59, of Howell died Nov. 28 at home. Born in Nyack, N.Y., he had lived in Woodbridge and Keasbey before moving to Howell 20 years ago. For the past 13 years, he was a mechanic for Stern’s Rental Co., Farmingdale. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Freehold, and the New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, Brick. Surviving are his wife, Ann Marie Peterson; three sons, Joseph Ponzo of Jackson, David Peterson of Virginia Beach, Va., and John B. Peterson of Wall; two daughters, Jennelle and Jamie Peterson, both of Howell; his mother, Elizabeth Peterson of South Glen Falls, N.Y.; two brothers, Charles Peterson and William T. Garrison; five sisters, Katherine Peterson, Mary Ann Croteau, Alice Bower, Frances Parkin and Elizabeth Mary Tracy; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell, with the Rev. Joseph Sorce officiating. Interment followed at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
