METUCHEN — The Board of Education received a "clean" audit for the 2002-2003 fiscal year.
According to school officials, this marks the fifth year in a row that the board’s audit has been free of problems, which means there were no comments or corrective actions to be taken.
At last week’s school board meeting, officials also announced that the district’s available surplus was $669,094, which is an increase over years past.
"I’d like to commend the board on its fifth consecutive ‘clean’ audit and on the amount of the surplus," said auditor Walter Brasch, representing the accounting firm of Lipman, Selznick and Witkowski.
"You’ve really done a good job," he added.
School officials explained that the surplus is a fund used for anything not accounted for in the yearly budget.
