EDISON — A 19-year-old township resident drowned in a Pennsylvania quarry, according to police.
Jonathan Baksh was swimming with friends in the Eastern Industries Quarry in Lower Mount Bethel Township around 3;26 p.m. on Aug. 17, when he went underwater and didn’t resurface, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Members of Pennsylvania Water Rescue Station 72 pulled Baksh from the quarry, and local fire and EMS officials assisted at the scene, police said.
A 2013 graduate of Edison High School, Baksh was born in Queens, New York, before moving to the township in 2003, according to his obituary.
Baksh, who worked as a server at the Skylark Diner in Edison, had plans to attend Middlesex County College, his obituary states.
Funeral services were set for Aug. 24 in Metuchen, with Baksh being entombed in Clover Leaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge.
