PRINCETON: Road work to begin on Route 27 between Snowden Lane and the Kingston border

By Jennifer Kohlhepp, Staff Writer

Roadwork will begin tonight on portions of Route 27 in Princeton between Snowden Lane and the Kingston border.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will be conducting the work between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. to avoid disrupting traffic at peak hours.
The resurfacing project, which also includes portions of Route 27 in Franklin Township and South Brunswick, is expected to take approximately four months and end in June.
The NJDOT anticipates working a total of 4-6 weeks sporadically in Princeton. One lane will be closed to traffic as work is being conducted.
The Princeton Police Department recommended the council allow the NJDOT to conduct the work in the overnight hours as opposed to shutting down the road during rush hour to have the work completed quickly.
Representatives of the NJDOT attended the Monday night council meeting to discuss the road improvement project, which will include milling, repaving and recurbing.
They said they would do their best to inform the municipality when they would be working in Princeton so the town could inform residents.
