MANSFIELD — A fire destroyed a storage building Tuesday morning on a local farm, according to officials.
”It was a complete loss of the building with some very minor extension to the large barn nearby,” said Franklin Fire Co. No. 1 Assistant Chief Tom Hope in an email Tuesday.
The fire broke out at 26360 Mount Pleasant Road near the intersection of Island Road at approximately 11 a.m. on the Bishop farm.
He said the building was a storage building with masonry walls and had a wood frame and was approximately 75 feet by 75 feet.
”It was well involved in fire,” he said.
He said a passerby called the fire in.
Fire departments from Bordentown Township, Chesterfield Township, Florence Township, Burlington Township, Springfield Township and North Hanover Township assisted at the scene while Burlington City, Eastampton Township and Cookstown helped covered the station. Several water tenders from throughout Burlington County also assisted at the scene.
He said it took an hour to get the fire under control.
”A quick response prevented the fire from spreading to the very large main barn nearby,” he said.
Firefighters were faced with the challenges of gaining access to the building.
”There was limited access due to the building being far off the main road,” he said.
Firefighters left the scene around 2:30 p.m.
   There were no injuries reported.
The fire is under investigation by the Mansfield Township Fire Official Douglas Borgstrom.
