John V. Sherman Jr., of Edison’s Boy Scout Troop 110, stands with his mother, Diane Sherman, at his completed Eagle Scout project in the Eagle Courtyard at the Veterans Memorial Home-Menlo Park in Edison. With help from Barton’s Nursery and Home Depot in Edison, the 17-year-old landscaped the area, planting foliage, weeding and laying landscaping cloth topped with mulch. In addition, he “planted” flags at the site and added solar LED lighting to illuminate the area for residents’ safety.
