Hopewell Valley Golf Club has announced the appointment of Jill S. Stabile as its new General Manager and Chief Operating Officer. The appointment, which culminated an eight-month executive search, is effective immediately.
”We’re delighted to have Ms. Stabile on board,” said HVGC president John Lohse. “Her talent and extensive golf club experience are exactly what we need to succeed in today’s highly competitive private golf club environment.”
Ms. Stabile brings nearly 25 years of management experience to her new position. Most recently the Assistant General Manager at Metropolis CC in White Plains, N.Y., she has also held management positions at such prestigious New Jersey clubs as Cherry Valley CC in Skillman, Roxiticus GC in Mendham, Plainfield CC in Plainfield, Morris County GC in Morristown, and Suburban GC in Union. An avid golfer herself, she is a Certified Club Manager of the Club Managers Association of America.
Founded in 1927, Hopewell Valley Golf Club is widely known in the state as a picturesque and immaculately maintained golf course. Although carts are available, many members prefer to walk the 6,612-yard championship course designed by Thomas Winton.
Along with golf, HVGC members also enjoy the use of two paddle tennis courts, three Har-Tru tennis courts, and an Olympic size swimming pool suitable for the club’s active swim and dive teams.
Hopewell Valley hosts many Trenton District, Metropolitan Golf Association, and Golf Association of Philadelphia matches as well as numerous charity golf outings annually. The club also offers an award winning culinary team for weddings and other private parties in its main dining room and recently renovated Baron Dillon Room.
”The golf industry is still recovering from the recent recession,” said Ms. Stabile, “but I’m thrilled to be facing that challenge here because of everything that Hopewell Valley Golf Club has to offer for athletic, social, and business purposes.”
Among the business development ideas currently under consideration, she said, are new Corporate Membership and Trial Membership Programs, dedicated afternoons each week for transient play, cooperative relationships with area hotels and business groups, and new incentives for golf outing planners.
”As we prepare the club for the upcoming spring, summer, and fall sports seasons, the board has made it clear that no marketing or membership development ideas are off the table.”
