As part of the ongoing relationship between Hopewell Valley Central High School and Kenya, that East African country’s ambassador to the United States will visit the high school June 12 and 13.
The ambassador, His Excellency Honorable Robinson Njeru Githae, is based in Washington, D.C., and is Kenya’s highest ranking diplomat in this country.
“Ambassador Githae’s visit is the culmination of a long-standing relationship between Hopewell Valley Central High School and the Kenyan area of Keroka,“ said Dr. Thomas Smith, Hopewell Valley’s superintendent of schools. “In 2007, Central High School biology teacher, Dr. David Angwenyi, who grew up in the Keroka area, and Dr. Lillian Rankel, a Pennington resident, led the first Model WHO student trip to Kenya. Central High School students have visited the area on four service trips since then. Interactions with the Kenyan community have made lasting impressions on the students.”
