A canoe that had flipped over in Carnegie Lake sent first responders scrambling Tuesday morning to find out if anyone was injured or trapped underneath.
Sometime between 8 and 8:30 a.m., a caller told police that a canoe had flipped over in the lake, said Robert Gregory, director of emergency services.
The Princeton Police Department investigated to make sure that no one was trapped underneath the canoe, Mr. Gregory said. The Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad and the Princeton Fire Department were dispatched to Carnegie Lake in the area of the dock on the Princeton-Kingston Road, near Dodds Lane.
The Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad launched its boat into the water to check on the canoe. No one was found in or near the canoe, and the squad members flipped it back to its upright position, Mr. Gregory said. It was towed back to shore.
Although it is not known how the canoe made its way into Carnegie Lake or where it came from, Mr. Gregory said, it is possible that the canoe came loose from its mooring during Monday night’s rainstorm and floated into the lake.
