EAST WINDSOR — Township officials have designated the former National Lead and adjoining site on Wyckoffs Mill Road an “area in need of redevelopment” pursuant to the state law to redevelop.
The two properties, totaling 50 acres, were purchased by a broker/builder and another party has a contingency contract and plans to develop the sites consistent with the master plan and research office zoning.
The National Lead site contains a vacant laboratory and research building constructed in the 1960s, and the adjacent property contains a building constructed in 1975. The structures are all in poor condition and dilapidated, and unoccupied and unused for long periods.
The process, approved by the mayor and council and the Planning Board, empowers the township to craft a plan with the potential developer to realize a blueprint for redevelopment of these properties.
