HILLSBOROUGH: College grads share news of their achievement

Two Hillsborough women were awarded undergraduate degrees at the University of Rhode Island’s 129th commencement on Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17.
Stephanie N. Buckman received a bachelor of science in nursing, with a minor in psychology.
Elizabeth Anne Berry received a bachelor of science in biological sciences, bachelor of science in cell and molecular biology magna cum laude.
The university awarded about 3,200 undergraduate degrees at commencement.

Two Manville and 29 Hillsborough students participated in the 2015 commencement ceremonies at The College of New Jersey in Ewing Township on May 21 and 22.

Chelsea Cutino of Hillsborough graduated summa cum laude from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and earned a bachelor of arts in psychology/film and media studies (double major) with honors in psychology on May 23.
Erik Weihenmayer, world-renowned blind adventurer, author and filmmaker was the principal speaker for the Class of 2015.

Cara Alpaugh of Manville was among the Virginia Tech students honored at the university’s spring commencement ceremony May 15 in Blacksburg, Va.
Cara received a bachelor of science degree in business, magna cum laude, in accounting and information.
About 4,500 bachelor’s and associate’s degree candidates, along with their families and friends, attended the on-campus ceremony. The commencement address was given by Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Google.

Brian Hollenbach and Amanda Maiorca, both from Hillsborough, graduated from the University of New Haven (Conn.) in May.

James Donald Friscia of Hillsborough graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., during the May 8 commencement exercises. James graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting.
James was among more than 3,500 students who received undergraduate, master’s, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.

Hillsborough resident Mara Rosenfeld graduated from Ithaca (N.Y.) College’s School of Health Sciences and Human Performance with a degree in occupational therapy in May.
The college is home to 6,100 undergraduate and 460 graduate students.
