Republican candidates for Borough Council Tom Gibbons, Joe Scillieri and Sam Lawrence III have unveiled their new website.
The site at www.jamesburg-gop.com features a “Talk to Our Team” component that provides residents with the chance to communicate directly with the candidates through several different social media platforms.
The new website also has links to biographical information about each candidate, the team’s platform and links to their Facebook and Twitter pages as well.
The team has also included personal email addresses, which visitors can connect to by simply clicking on members’ names.
Recently, Councilman Gibbons and Mr. Scillieri canvassed a section of the borough in an effort to meet residents and provide citizens with their team’s message of leadership, stewardship and innovation (see http://tiny.cc/25cc1x). Most importantly, the GOP team wanted to hear from borough residents and get their ideas about what may work to help move Jamesburg forward.
Longtime resident Jeffrey Houle discussed issues he deemed significant.
“I really appreciate the fact that these two candidates are taking the time to meet with us homeowners and residents to hear our thoughts, concerns and ideas,” said Mr. Houle. “I was happy to give them some input about my own concerns, and they were very appreciative to listen.”
The GOP went out later in the week. Councilman Gibbons and Mr. Scillieri canvassed homes on Wednesday. On Thursday evening, Mr. Scillieri attended the Middlesex County Fair to assist the Middlesex County Republican and Middlesex County Women’s organizations.
Councilman Gibbons said, “Obviously our team has a strong vision of how the borough should operate. However, it is imperative that we receive invaluable input from the residents of Jamesburg if we’re going to govern in the manner that respects the opinions and anxieties they may have.”
“I am enthused with the idea that the Jamesburg GOP has opened a dialogue with all the townspeople because any form of governance should be based upon inclusion of ideas from everyone,” said Mr. Scillieri. “Social media allows us the chance to talk directly with all the people in the borough, giving them the chance to express their feelings to us directly.”
Mr. Lawrence, who is currently serving on the Jamesburg Board of Education, said, “I’ve lived in Jamesburg for a majority of my life and have seen too much positive opportunity pass us by. By talking with fellow residents, we can gain valuable insight into ways to transform the borough and make it an even better place to live and work.”
