METUCHEN — The borough’s public schools will host the New Jersey Mobile Museum on Oct. 15.
Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of images, artifacts, films and other interactive elements included in an exhibit on the New Jersey Hall of Fame, which honors residents who have made distinguished contributions to improve society on a state, national or global level. Students will learn how the inductees have left their imprint as artists, innovators and leaders.
Since 2008, the New Jersey Hall of Fame has inducted individuals from numerous professions, including Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Jack Nicholson, Walt Whitman, Martha Stewart, Susan Sarandon, Buzz Aldrin and Thomas Edison. This year, Metuchen will have one of its own inducted — former Gov. James Florio.
The museum will be parked at the Metuchen Community Pool parking lot, adjacent to Edgar Middle School. It will be open to the community 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
Classes from Edgar Middle School and Metuchen High School will visit during the school day. These classes have been scheduled for 20-minute tours of the 53-foot museum on wheels. All families are encouraged to visit the museum after school hours.
