JCC holds presentation Feb. 23

The Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County, 1775 Oak Tree Road, Edison, has announced Dr. Marcia Midler will present “Molly Picon, Sweetheart of Second Avenue” at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 23.

For eight decades, Molly Picon was a force of nature both in the realm of Yiddish theater and in the wider world as well. She was the first internationally known Jewish female performer, while Picon also starred on radio and TV, on Broadway and in motion pictures. A passionate supporter of Israel and of Yiddish culture, she also tirelessly fundraised for UJA and sold World War II bonds.

Presenter Marcia Midler is a Cornell graduate who holds a doctorate in English from Rutgers. She taught at University College, Rutgers, before leaving academia for a corporate career at AT&T and Telcordia. Dr. Midler is a resident of Regency at Monroe, and is the co-founder of News and Views, the community’s current events group.

The cost is $8 for JCCMC Members; $11 for non-members.
