Former Israeli ambassador to be honored at gala Feb. 27

Several honorees will be recognized at the “Gala in the Galilee” on Feb. 27 at Congregation B’Nai Tikvah, 1001 Finnegans Lane, North Brunswick.

Ambassador Danny Ayalon is an accomplished Israeli diplomat and politician who served as Israel’s Ambassador to the United States from 2002-06. Over the past few years, Ayalon has participated in several “Tikvah for Israel” programs at Congregation B’nai Tikvah, where he has shared his extensive knowledge and expertise with the Central New Jersey Jewish community.

Jeff and Marcia Schwartz of Monmouth Junction have been members of B’nai Tikvah for more than 30 years. Jeff has served in multiple leadership positions, including serving as president twice and on the B’nai Tikvah Board of Trustees for over 30 years. He is active in the Jewish Federation, serving on its boards and currently as first vice president and chair of the Financial Resource Development Committee. Over the years, Marcia has served as chair of the Youth Commission and also revitalized the College Committee, which sends special care packages to the synagogue’s college students. She has also served as a member of the Israel Bonds Committee.

Steve Juro of Kendall Park and Lauren Cohen of Monmouth Junction will receive “Honorable Menschen” recognition for their years of dedication and service to B’nai Tikvah.
