The Red Bank Resource Network of the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County will provide free tax-filing assistance to those who earn $54,000 or less at 103 Drs. James Parker Blvd., Suite B, Red Bank. Bilingual assistance will be available.
The service, which is sponsored by the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and VITA Certified Tax Professionals, will be available by appointment only from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Feb. 22, March 7 and April 11.
Households with annual incomes under $53,267 may also qualify for an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) up to $8,114. A tax return must be filed to claim the EITC.
Bring a valid driver’s license or photo identification card; a copy of last year’s tax return; birth dates and Social Security cards or verification letters for yourself, spouse and dependents; Form 1095-A (Health Insurance Marketplace Statement); all income statements (W-2, Social Security, unemployment or other benefit statements and documents that show taxes withheld); interest and dividend statements; childcare expenses; statements for student-loan interest payments, tuition, pensions and annuities; property tax bills, mortgage payments or rent receipts signed by a landlord; and any other pertinent documents.
If you qualify for a refund and want to obtain it through direct deposit, bring a check so the account and bank routing numbers can be verified. For electronic filing, both spouses must be present to sign a join return.
