Computer and job search classes to be offered at library

The Edison Public Library will offer free computer and job search classes for adults this winter at the Main Library, the North Edison Branch and the Clara Barton Branch. Classes are open to all adults. Registration begins one week before each class.

The Main Library, 340 Plainfield Ave., Edison, will offer class on Tuesdays from 2:30-4 p.m. Mouse Skills, offered on Feb. 16, will teach computer novices how to manipulate a mouse, an essential skill for all computer users. Word I (Beginner) will be held on Feb. 23 and is an introduction to Word 2010, a word processing program. Word II (Intermediate) on Mar. 1 will teach how to add graphics, page layout and design elements to documents.

The Clara Barton Branch, 141 Hoover Ave., Edison, will offer classes on Tuesdays from 2:30-4 p.m. Internet for Beginners will be held on Feb. 16 and will help navigate and evaluate the web. Computer Basics will be held on Feb. 23 for anyone just beginning to learn how to use a computer. Mouse Skills will be held on Mar. 1 and will teach computer novices how to manipulate a mouse, an essential skill for all computer users.

The North Edison Branch, 777 Grove Ave., Edison, will offer classes on Thursdays from 2:30-4 p.m. Word II (Intermediate) on Feb. 11 will teach layout and graphics. Word III (Advanced) on Feb. 18 will teach how to perform a mail merge and to use formatting tools. All students should have basic or intermediate skills before registering for intermediate or advanced level classes. Excel 1 (Beginner) on Feb. 25 will teach spreadsheet basics.
