Applications are being accepted for the Spring 2016 South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy.
The academy will give community members a behind-the-scenes look at policing and offer training on a range of law enforcement topics including motor vehicle laws, criminal law and use of force, crime scene processing, defensive tactics and internal affairs. A dozen officers and detectives will share their perspective and insights into the daily workings of the police department.
The academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises were students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes and other realistic scenarios.
The academy will begin March 1. Classes will be held 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays for 11 weeks in the training center at police headquarters, Route 522, Monmouth Junction. Graduation is set for May 10.
