Community theater plans ‘1776’ auditions

Playhouse 22, East Brunswick’s community theater, will hold open auditions for its upcoming production of “1776” March 6 and 7 at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center, 721 Cranbury Road. Two audition blocks, 6:30-8 p.m. and 8-9:30 p.m., are set for both evenings.

Actors will be seen in order of their arrival. To schedule an audition and receive the script sides ahead of time, interested individuals should email [email protected] with their name, email address, part(s) they are considering and the date and time block they want. A confirmation email, along with the sides, will be sent a few days prior to auditions. Callbacks, by invitation only, will be held March 10. Sides also will be provided at the theater. Auditioners, who are asked to prepare a short cut of a show tune, should bring sheet music for piano. An accompanist will be provided. All roles are open.

The show will be directed by Mary Lynn Dobson, with musical direction by Ray Zipf and choreography by Jen Hanselman. Show dates are June 10-26, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays.
