Robby Andrews lowered his time in the 1-mile run to 3:53.16 when he finished fourth in the Wanamaker Mile at the New York Roadrunners Millrose Games Feb. 20. The Games, the biggest indoor track and field meet in the country, were held at the New Balance Armory in New York, New York.
Andrews, who runs professionally for adidas, had previously run 3:57.32 at the Penn Relays in 2013. The Manalapan High School graduate was the first Shore area runner to break four minutes. His mile time is the second fastest run by a New Jersey native, second only to Marty Liguori’s time of 3:52.2 in 1975.
Last year, Andrews was ranked No. 2 in the country for the 1,500-meters/mile and he represented the United States at the World Track and Field Championships in Beijing, China, where he finished 11th in the final.
