Events set at the Old Franklin Schoolhouse

Dan Whitley and Renee Maskin will play a double-bill with two sets each on March 5 at the Old Franklin Schoolhouse, 491 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen.

Whitley will feature songs from his new CD, “Calling All Gods.” Maskin, originally from Metuchen, will be taking a break from her Jersey Shore and New Brunswick circuit. She recently took home the 2015 Asbury Park Music Award for the Top Female Solo/Acoustic Act. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.; the cost is $10 at the door.

Family Arts of Metuchen’s next installment in the Snowflake Series Children’s Concerts takes place starting at 4 p.m. on March 6 with Bari Koral headlining. The cost is $5 per person at the door.

On March 12, the next exhibit at the Transformations Gallery at the Old Franklin Schoolhouse will open, featuring local musician/artist Steve Beal, who will be playing during this reception of his original watercolors. The event runs from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Michael and the Rockness Monsters will have a record release celebration for their debut album at 11 a.m. March 19. Michael is known for his Preschool of Rock shows. For tickets, visit www.preschoolofrock.com.

Lowlight, Rose Boulevard, and Joe Galuppo will perform on March 19 with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. Lowlight features local favorites Colin Ryan and Renee Maskin, as well as Derril Sellers, Dana Sellers, Rey Rivera, and Tony Aichele. Rose Boulevard and Joe Galuppo will open up this night of music.

Metuchen’s Open Mic Night will be held on March 25. Slots start at 7 p.m., first-come, first-serve sign up.
